Why is even Mother's day celebrated, all events are cancelled?
Staying home even on mother's day is the way to go! All events are canceled because of the spread of COVID-19. Besides, these days are the days of Ramadan, but Muslims break their fasts at home. As for me, I just started working with a local grocery store.
What makes the differ ?
The same as other Muslims I am fasting during Ramadan. Even though it is a holiday that everybody loves, it is an unusual day for us to understand what social distance is.
Roccoroma Story:
Usually, during Mother's day, we have a family lunch in our favorite Indian restaurant, in Middletown, Saffron. Not only because of authentic, tasty food and nice ambiance but also because getting together as a family is a great way to show kids what love is all about. Or during Ramadan, waiting to eat together in the evening after a long day of fasting hours is another way of sharing the love.
We are together, even we are distance!
We order food at Roccoroma, olive oil, vegetables, and fruits. I usually buy the best eggplant parm for my stepfather. He loves it very much. I usually go to the store and do not wait when food is delivered, while my mother is cooking dinner. We eat together, in the evening.
On Mother’s Day, we exchange presents. My brother’s kids prepare cards for my mom and we prepare a gift for my sister-in-law, a mother of four children.
But now we leave little presents by the door without entering the house. Or see and wave at each other through the windows.
It is so hard to stop hugging and kissing those people you love.
On the other hand, that's what love is about when you think about other people more than about yourself, you follow the rules!
We will still celebrate Mother’s Day by seeing each other at a distance. My mother will prepare a special cake, we will drop it at my brother’s house, talk to them through the windows, and exchange virtual hugs and kisses.
