Comparing online virtual events vs Hudson Valley
I started work as an SEO strategist with the Hudson Valley Tech Festival (HVTech) in 2019, before the Pandemic. Since that time I have been waiting for the next October Hackathon. As I remember Hackathon 2019 October, we did not think about social distance yet during those days. It hits me today if I were to search for a Hackathon now, what shall I search for?
The inaugural HVTechFest Hackathon 2019 was the last in-person event. The official HVTechFest website had a content structure assuming the Festival would run annually.
There was a dedicated folder for each year, like https://hvtechfest.com /2019/speakers. I still remember many TechFest talks for example Ari Weinstein, James Hendler I tried to find speakers on the HV Tech Festival website, and it was easy. The pandemic messed up everybody's plans. I was searching for local Hackathons and DevFest, tried to find my beloved one, and was lost. All events like DevFests, TechFests and hackathons were rescheduled to be fully remote, and it hits me - how can I still distinguish which one is local? This question caused longer research. During the same year in 2019 as well the same event was found at: AT t&t 5g hackathon as well as in October we found an event in India.
I was using different word combinations to see how local event organizers handle the challenge. I used the following keywords to compare tech events and farmer markets: host a virtual conference, hackathon, farmers market, hackathons around me, york state, hackfest 2019 etc.
