What Makes Hackathons Around Me So Important?

October 11th, 2019, was the first day of the local Tech Fest, near Goshen NY. What made this TGIF Event So important?

I think nobody loves to be in trouble, but during the Local Hackathon event, I was meeting with groups of people who you really love to meet and spend time with. I was actually wondering how easily adolescent students could solve chicken and egg business problems, which I couldn't even think about. I wish the experts from social media were with me at this event to witness the young talents of Hudson Valley.

While I observe and speak with I was thinking it’s interesting, what technique  they are using to find these solutions . First time I was reading about  user research method sticky notes during UX design class at General Assembly, this event was even better. I sow it on practice. It's interesting how helpful this simple UX research  affinity diagram method is in different situations. For me it was interesting that the technique of brainstorming sessions, work even these children do not know about it.

For example, the biggest problem is finding a job, the problem of employment. I came to the U.S three years ago and still, I cannot find a job. I am not along in solving this problem. I have been successful back in Russia and have more than 20 years of experience in owning a design  SEO studio. But these school boys and girls found solutions to the problem, playfully, using just user interviews, and brainstorming techniques.

I was wondering how my experience, and knowledge sometimes  distance me from those problems that need to be solved.  This type of problems, I actually even called as chicken and egg problem: google define it as: situation in which “it is impossible to decide which of two related things happened first and caused the other”

Defines Problem:

To realize how to solve the problem first I need to define it? To define the problem first I try definition at Google: So if the problem “unwelcome or harmful” “matter or situation” which the person needs “dealt with and overcome”

creative problem solving - “the process of finding solutions” to difficult or complex difficult issues.

Ruslan Smirnov (Remindable)

A few words about myself. I came from Russia three years ago. Back in Russia, I had an SEO company for 20 years. When I came to the U.S, I have been looking for a job to apply my skills of web and graphic design, research, UX design. Then the COVID happened. I was lucky to be hired to design an online store for a small grocery food market. I used the Squarespace platform for the design and came across with so many issues! I joined Squarespace Circle in hope to get support and answers to the issues I faced during the store and my own website design. The support team in Squarespace does not provide immediate assistance though do not refuse to help, but never state the timeline in the solution of the complex problems. I think it is unfair as I am paying a lot of money for their site subscription and their support.
