How I started an online digital marketing company

As a TBI survivor, recalling all the steps to run my digital marketing company after moving to the US is no easy feat. The new environment, learning systems, and unfamiliar business methods added layers of complexity. Simple tasks like organizing projects, keeping up with deadlines, or remembering client details demand extra effort. Balancing these duties, while managing my injury's effects, means I need to work extra hard to create routines, use reminders, and stay focused—all while building my business from the ground up.

Setting up an online marketing agency wasn't originally on my list, but life loves to throw curveballs. It all started with the whirlwind of adapting to the US, deciphering complex systems, the onset of the pandemic, and managing life as a TBI survivor. Navigating these hurdles required me to get creative—establishing structured routines, relying on trusty reminders, and finding a sustainable way to launch my Squarespace site. Before I knew it, I was crafting a business that offered flexibility and the freedom to work remotely. Isn’t it amazing how unexpected twists can lead to something extraordinary? When COVID-19 started, my online marketing agency was initially daunting, but it quickly became an opportunity to harness my experiences and adapt them to a new context. With the challenges posed by the transition to the US and the ongoing management of my TBI's effects, I needed to rethink traditional business strategies and develop tailored solutions.

The beginning of this venture was marked by trial and error. I decided to use Squarespace for my website due to its intuitive interface, which allowed me to focus more on content and services than on the technicalities of web development. This choice allowed me to update information and connect with clients seamlessly.

Over time, I developed a systematic approach to managing my workload efficiently. This included using digital tools like calendars and task managers to keep track of meetings and deadlines. These tools became indispensable in helping me maintain focus and ensure that I was consistently meeting client expectations.

As I gained confidence in handling the day-to-day operations, my agency flourished. The flexibility of working remotely allowed me to adapt my schedule according to my needs, ensuring that I could maintain a balance between work and personal health. My journey from overcoming personal challenges to establishing a thriving business underscores the power of resilience and adaptability in the face of adversity.

Launching a digital marketing agency wasn’t on my radar when I arrived. It wasn't part of my initial game plan, but the journey of adapting to a new environment and tackling life as a TBI survivor eventually nudged me to create my business from scratch.

Ruslan Smirnov (Remindable)

A few words about myself. I came from Russia three years ago. Back in Russia, I had an SEO company for 20 years. When I came to the U.S, I have been looking for a job to apply my skills of web and graphic design, research, UX design. Then the COVID happened. I was lucky to be hired to design an online store for a small grocery food market. I used the Squarespace platform for the design and came across with so many issues! I joined Squarespace Circle in hope to get support and answers to the issues I faced during the store and my own website design. The support team in Squarespace does not provide immediate assistance though do not refuse to help, but never state the timeline in the solution of the complex problems. I think it is unfair as I am paying a lot of money for their site subscription and their support.
