Creating IMPACTFUL brand identities is not something I identify as a business but rather a creative outlet. When I thought about creating my brand, I had to stand out so I don’t get lost in millions of people.

Life before the internet was like a  professional hide and seek game, but now it’s all about delivering the best results with great fulfillment. And I was all for it!

Hence to rank my brand, I had to rank for my name - Ruslan. It’s a popular name in the culture of the Caucasus.

It is a Russian variant of the Turkic word Arslan or Aslan. Ruslan's name meaning is “Lion”. This was the primary inspiration for creating my own brand identity.

Visual Storytelling for My Portfolio:

My first step into the world of strategists was doing the HV tech festival’s strategic research planning and optimizing organic search results, that’s how I started working with Learn to Live and Live to Learn and SEO

SEO it at Squarspase.

This experience made me think about starting my branding or marketing agency. That’s how I came up with an omni approach towards my skills.

This brings me to applying this omni approach to choosing a platform that was best from a branding and search engine perspective.

Options - WordPress V/S SquareSpace

After researching everything from WordPress themes and Squarespace themes the observation is that the structure of the content of both platforms is very different.

But personally, Squarespace’s design caught my eye and made me intriguingly curious about it.

How did I rank my portfolio website using the Omni approach with Squarespace?

I used Squarespace to build my website. I started with structure and keyword research. That's how I realized SEO at Squarespace is based on digital strategy.

  • When creating content for my portfolio, I chose three long-tail keywords for every page. That's how I started my first content creation; the issue was not having enough knowledge of Squarespace and English.

  • I did an A/B test with my research. I chose two platforms: Wix and Squarespace. My UX design skills came in handy as I did a comprehensive course in General Assembly. I redesigned my portfolio site from WIX to Squarespace.

Creating a website, Writing words that rank due to SEO, and designing a brand or portfolio is not easy.

But I know one thing which is harder than it.

Doing all of the above while telling your own story.

So that the readers connect with your story!

But you may have the following question.

new york times square.JPG

How to make a portfolio that tells a story?

I won’t go much into the technical aspects of “how to make a Squarespace website on a local computer” or complex topics like MySQL database or FTP client-server. But rather into something that gives meaning to a website. A story.

Building this Squarespace website was also a means to train my English. I started my own blog. And there were many ways to creatively practice English like writing product descriptions and blog posts. It was the beginning of my training in the art of storytelling.

I first worked with Squarespace 7.0 templates. The information that I got at the General Assembly UX Design Course was really helpful to me. I started searching for user research jobs.

Using templates to make something different is important, you don’t want to make duplicate content or duplicate pages on your site. The goal is to be original and stand out.

Interlinking your unique pages will boost your SEO, hence quality content will boost your conversion rate too.

The Brine Squarespace template was my favorite. In particular, index pages look amazing. This is basically my own SEO strategy based on this template family

I understand that learning is very important, as well as training skills, but making a portfolio is not the same as running an eCommerce site. That’s why I need to find a job, but first I need to grow an audience network, so I started my Manhattan trips.

My LinkedIn network grew pretty fast, but during this time I did not know anything about LinkedIn’s audience. My LinkedIn audience is around 5000 followers. If you are not a job seeker, it’s hard to understand how long your potential employers look at resumes.

Week after week, search for the right job employer on LinkedIn, or other job boards, and do not know about ATS optimized resumes, or how to help job descriptions during a remote job search.

I started thinking about my own eCommerce SEO strategy, I asked my friend: how is Squarespace for SEO? Will it affect SEO and the ranking based on search volume?

Building a website is not an easy task so I had to analyze everything from software, it’s an effect on SEO, and the research of SEO from long-tail keywords to SEO plugins.

The friend did know that I found SEO tips on the Squarespace platform from the research. I realized that the tools on this platform should easily work with keyword optimization in blogs as well as meta description tags and titles.

As I understand, my goal is a platform with the possibility to build an SEO-friendly website with beautifully made portfolio templates as well as blog pages.

I started growing my skills as a local SEO strategist:

  • Dream it.

I am not a native English speaker, and with a different background, it will be hard to find a job, so my goal was to polish & improve my English. I started a blog to practice my English.

  • Build it.

I was posting blog entries every day, but what can a job seeker write? After much thought, I came to the decision to write about “What User Experience is for a strategist.

  • Grow it.

I enjoyed my trips to Manhattan; there were memorable moments as well as events. I was waiting for the next job alert on my LinkedIn and was spending days in NYC.

  • Sell it.

I have many benefits now as a Squarespace Circle member. I am also learning WordPress, but in those days, I was just learning and enjoying American life. That's how I started building my portfolio.

My portfolio as a Squarespace SEO specialist:

When I started building my portfolio website, my plan was to show the world the life of a creative strategist who is searching for a job in the United States.

To do this, I was using symbols from my favorite book, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

I remember how I set up my Google analytics and webmaster profile. It was hard to believe this memory will be with me forever.

Everything was going great: my portfolio was growing in search engines, and I was receiving job applications on a weekly basis. Everything started changing when the site-builder changed the version. Now I am learning 7.1.

That's what I learned during this time: even though Squarespace as the site builder is not SEO-friendly, you have everything to grow your Squarespace sites in all search engine results if you understand what search engine optimization is.

At the same time, you have many benefits, such as a beautifully made template design, a great user interface.

The problem is that SEO content strategy does not work everywhere. For example, optimizing your content on an e-commerce site is usually not so easy.

If I try to compare Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1 in the same article, it’s not possible to describe it so differently. It is designed; but the main difference for me is that the 7.0 solution is perfect for portfolio pages, while the 7.1 version is an e-commerce platform.

Squarespace 7.1 version has many benefits to e-commerce sites. Some of them are in relation to product categories, breadcrumb navigation, and product-category pages. Hence, this was the main reason I started learning WordPress.

Choosing which platform, hosting account, the template can be overwhelming.

Squarespace V/S WordPress, from the point of SEO, the main difference is:

  • Dream it.

SEO for the Squarespace website is not as complicated as the WordPress site. So choosing the best platform is important or migrating your site can be a hassle. Manual migration is a time-intensive process. Irrespective of WordPress migration or any other content management system.

  • Build it.

WordPress’s functionality depends largely on plugins. For example, you can’t connect your WordPress website with a Google search console without a plugin. Otherwise, it has the possibility to optimize title tags as well as meta descriptions. Did I start researching how to add breadcrumbs to Squarespace's portfolio? And realize it’s possible to add breadcrumbs to an eCommerce website.

  • Grow it.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • Sell it.

This was my primary method to search for a job and grow my skills with Squarespace. For example, my first trip to Woodbury Commons shopping center, located in Central Valley, New York, seemed like a fairytale job application story.

But this reality changed when the pandemic began. We lived in an online world of social media and advertising. For me, an SEO Strategist, this part of a quarantined lifestyle was not unusual.

The rise of advertising and technology can make you question what's real, I went through this too. But my trips in NYC pulled me back into reality and showed me the path forward - Research.

My plan is to research and work professionally in a group. I started using Semrush tools to understand how eCommerce businesses work based on my research on SEO for eCommerce websites, which looks really different in the post-pandemic world.

The Squarespace Circle program has great benefits. Besides that, now I have a portfolio in WordPress, which helps me compare results to get a clear view. Which inspired me to start Remindable, an SEO strategy studio. Learning breadcrumbs for SEO enabled me to drive high organic traffic to my portfolio site.

Driving traffic to a site became one of my key skills. But it was only organic traffic which took a while to develop in any case. Paid traffic like PPC gave good traffic results in less time. Combining both of these skills will make me exceptional in the market.

Competitor Analysis Which is Better SEO vs PPC:

I started working with TTR LLS, a truck and trailer company. The business goal was to get more customers by redesigning the website, providing SEO optimized content so TTR LLC ranks for their local area with specific keywords.

This experience enabled me to research the benefits of drag-and-drop platforms such as the Elementor plugin and Squarespace. And researching about Gary, Indiana map to understand the marketing strategy of the tire shops for trucks.

Review Squarespace vs WordPress.

Many developers, designers, and marketers are happy with this WordPress plugin. I spend a lot of time building my portfolio sites, reading Squarespace eCommerce reviews, as well as other builder platforms for professionals.

As building a new site involves a lot of work, eg - creating a new database for content marketing, easy yet important tasks like setting up new username and password and important micro tasks like changing canonical tags.

I went through this journey of learning, and I never stopped.

I built my first WordPress website using the platform Wordpress.com and migrated my site.

All of these were contributing factors to make me an expert in this field.

All of this so that I could help you achieve high traffic for your site and help you design the best website that converts that traffic.
